Gagliano named interim president of Equibase
Jim Gagliano, the president of The Jockey Club, will serve as the “interim president” of Equibase as the company conducts a search to find a permanent replacement for Jason Wilson, who will leave the company on April 2 to take a job with a top racing company, The Jockey Club said on Tuesday.
Gagliano, who has been the president and chief operating officer of The Jockey Club since 2010, was approved as the interim president by the Equibase Management Committee during a meeting on Monday. The committee also formed a search committee to identify a new president, according to a statement from Ian Highet, the chairman of Equibase.
“Jim Gagliano’s term will last until that person is hired,” Highet said.
Wilson, the president of Equibase since 2016, is taking the position of chief operating officer of 1/ST Content, a division within the racing company 1/ST, which was formerly known as The Stronach Group.
The Jockey Club co-owns Equibase with the Thoroughbred Racing Associations, a racetrack trade group. The company is the racing industry’s official database, and it markets handicapping and breeding products to bettors and industry participants.
