Funny Cide wins head to head, too
The head-to-head wager pitting the two Preakness favorites, Funny Cide and Peace Rules, paid $3.80 when Funny Cide won and Peace Rules finished fourth. Handle on the betwas $36,175.
Total handle on the Preakness was $59,384,334, down about 8 percent from last year.
Pimlico held six other head-to-head wagers on Saturday.
In the other head-to-head wagers:
* The Hirsch Jacobs bet paid $2.80 for Mt. Carson over Gators and Bears.
* The Gallorette bet featuring paid $5.80 for Carib Lady over Saranac Lake.
* The Maryland Breeders' Cup Handicap bet paid $3.60 for Sassy Hound over The Deputy Is Home.
* The Sir Barton bet paid $3.20 for During over Sky Soldier.
* The William Donald Schaefer Handicap bet paid $3 for P Day over Strive.
* The bets in the Woodlawn Stakes and Dixie Stakes were canceled due to scratches.
In the two pick fours on the card, the $200,000 guaranteed pick four linking races 4 through 7 paid $1,832.40 for a $2 ticket. The $500,000 guaranteed pick four linking races 9-12, including the Preakness, paid $4,987.40 for each $2 ticket.
