Fund established for Rowland

Jockey Mike Rowland, who suffered severe head injuries in a racing accident at Turfway Park in Florence, Ky., on Wednesday night, remained in a coma as of Saturday afternoon, according to his agent, Jamie Fowler.

"People have been visiting all day," Fowler said from University Hospital in Cincinnati, where Rowland is being treated. "We've all been waiting and watching."

Fowler said Rowland was scheduled to have a CAT scan Sunday to further evaluate his condition.

The Kentucky Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association has set up the Mike Rowland Fund to offer financial assistance to his family. Contributions can be mailed to the Kentucky HBPA at 422 Heywood Ave., Louisville, Ky., 40208.
