Full sisters win on same day

A pair of full sisters - Ashley's Kitty and Skippertale - won allowance races on opposite sides of the nation on Wednesday.

Full sisters even racing on the same day is a rarity, which makes their victories on the same day even more unusual. Both fillies are by Tale of the Cat out of Pretty 'n Smart and were bred in Kentucky by Gentry-Gaines Thoroughbreds.

At Monmouth Park in New Jersey, the 4-year-old Skippertale won her second consecutive allowance race in the day's eighth race. Owned by Joseph Iracane and trained by James Jerkens, the filly has won 3 of 10 starts and $100,205.

A few hours later, at Del Mar in Southern California, Ashley's Kitty rebounded from a two-race losing streak in stakes to beat fillies and mares in an allowance race over six furlongs.

Ashley's Kitty, 3, has won 4 of 7 starts and $163,878. Her biggest success is a win in the Grade 3 Railbird Stakes over seven furlongs at Hollywood Park in May.

Trained by Ted H. West for Oak West Farm, Ashley's Kitty is unbeaten in her four sprints.
