Full Mast, Territories continue rivalry in Prix Jean Prat
Full Mast and Territories, separated by a half-length in the Group 1 Jean-Luc Lagardere last October, renew their rivalry Sunday in the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly in France.
Full Mast won the Lagardere by a half-length, his third 2014 race without a defeat, but was slow to come around this spring, missing the classic races and finishing second by a head in his Group 3 comeback June 6, albeit while giving seven pounds to the winner. A Juddmonte Farms homebred by Mizzen Mast trained by Criquette Head-Maarek, Full Mast stands to improve Sunday, and must do so to beat Territories.
Territories has raced twice this year, most recently finishing second of 18 behind the excellent Gleneagles in the English 2000 Guineas.
Dutch Connection and Kodi Bear are the other two with a realistic chance in a seven-horse field. The ground at Chantilly is expected to be good, and post time for the race is 10:45 a.m. Eastern.
