Fritchie winner Glass Ceiling likely for Distaff Handicap

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Glass Ceiling, a hard-fought half-length winner of Saturday’s Grade 3, $250,000 Barbara Fritchie Handicap at Laurel Park, will likely make her next start in the Grade 3, $150,000 Distaff Handicap here on April 9, trainer Charlton Baker said.
The victory was the third straight and fourth in the last five starts for Glass Ceiling, a 5-year-old daughter of Constitution. Her only loss came by a head in a division of the Pumpkin Pie Stakes.
Baker said Glass Ceiling broke a little slow in the Fritchie and then quickly grabbed the bit and advanced close to the pace early on.
“As soon as he asked her to go, she jumped in the bit,” Baker said. “I think she wants to relax and settle and make a run.”

Baker said Glass Ceiling came out of the race in good order.
“She’s a good eater so you don’t have to worry about her,” Baker said.
