Freudnme risks perfect record in Ontario County Stakes
Freudnme looks to keep his unbeaten record intact as he steps up to stakes company for the first time in Monday's $50,000 Ontario County Stakes for 3-year-old New York-breds going six furlongs.
Freudnme, who is trained by Chris Englehart for My Purple Haze Stables, didn't run as a juvenile but has won all three of his starts by open margins, and all with Beyer Speed Figures of 75 or higher. Only one other entrant in this seven-horse field has earned a Beyer as high as 73.
Freudnme won his debut by a length on April 12 at Finger Lakes despite hitting the gate at the start. That effort earned a 75 Beyer. In his second outing, he led throughout to win a May 16 allowance by 2 1/4 lengths, earning a Beyer of 79. Most recently, he faced open company in a June 10 allowance at Finger Lakes, stalking the pace in second before pouncing and drawing off to win by 4 1/2 lengths with a 78. John Davila Jr., aboard for the first time in that most recent start, retains the mount on Monday.
Hot Diggity is the entrant to have earned a 73 Beyer, posting that figure when he was a dead-heat maiden winner last out at Belmont Park.
Saratoga Promise is coming off an allowance win at Finger Lakes over Queens Dude, who is also entered in the Ontario County.
