Frequent winner Diamond Tres Seis one to beat

Mary Rampellini|Jul 10, 2008

Diamond Tres Seis does not lose often. A winner of 10 of 15 career starts, he is unbeaten in two races this year and will try to stay perfect in the Grade 1, $114,660 Bank of America Texas Challenge Championship for Quarter Horses.

The 440-yard race has also drawn Grade 1 winners This Snow Is Cold, Reba Cleata, and Miss Kips Streakin.

Diamond Tres Seis was knocked off course during his trial for the Texas Challenge Championship, but overcame the trouble to win by three-quarters of a length. Last year, Diamond Tres Seis won the Grade 2 Sam Houston Derby.

Gilbert Ortiz has the mount for trainer Heath Taylor.
