Free's Del Mar plays for Sunday, August 13

As hoped, a second-time starter won race 5 Saturday. But it was Pleasanton shipper Tapped, not Run Forest Run, that sprang the $30.40 upset. Run Forest Run (5-1) finished off the board in a dreadful effort. It was a $50 loss.

Sunday, two potential overlays are at opposite ends of the card, and opposite ends of the odds spectrum. They are the plays of the day.

Race 2

Slow N Easy is the 5-2 favorite in race 2, and the improving gelding might be a standout. Although he finished second behind Pao Com Ovo last time, the effort by Slow N Easy was another forward move, and he should get a good trip on or near the front end.

Can you find value at the low end of the odds range? Occasionally, yes. Slow N Easy can be played at 2-1 or higher.

The bet: $25 win Slow N Easy (minimum odds 2-1).

Race 9

Papillon Rouge is the most likely winner of this mile turf race for $40,000 claiming fillies and mares. Bit of Folly, however, is the likely overlay at 15-1.

Bit of Folly finished third in her comeback, a race that produced at least three next-start winners. Bit of Folly stretches out to a route, she runs well on grass, and her back speed figures make her a longshot fit. She can be played at 12-1.

The bet:$20 win Bit of Folly (minimum odds 12-1); $5 exacta Papillon Rouge with Bit of Folly (same minimum odds).

(Note: If Slow N Easy does not meet the minimum odds in race 2, double the wagers on Bit of Folly to $40 win, $10 exacta).
