Freehold: Sidewalk Dancer stars in NJSS Standardbred Development Fund final
Sidewalk Dancer made easy work of her four rivals in Saturday afternoon's $50,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Standardbred Development Fund final for 3-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday afternoon at Freehold Raceway.
Catch-driven by Pat Berry, Sidewalk Dancer made front from post four and led the way through fractions of 28 2/5, 58, and 1:27 2/5. Hurrikane Empress (Daniel Dube) tried to rev up from the pocket in the lane, but it was to no avail as Sidewalk Dancer opened up and won by 2 1/4 lengths in 1:55 4/5. Hurrikane Empress did hold second, with Painted Lady (Vinny Ginsburg) third. Cruzinforavictory (Frank Milby) and Solitary (Brett Miller) rounded out the order. Solitary, the second choice in the race, jumped it off before the start and was never a factor, making Sidewalk Dancer's job even more facile.
Chris Oakes trains Sidewalk Dancer, a daughter of A Rocknroll Dance, for owners Northfork Racing Stable, Omar Beiler, and Dennis Coons. This was her 11th career victory, and she has now earned $232,549. The 3-5 favorite, she paid $3.20 to win.
