Freehold: JK American Beauty breaks maiden in Renaissance final
JK American Beauty, who was a close third in the New York Sire Stakes Final last time out, was an open-length winner of Saturday afternoon's $59,885 Renaissance final for 2-year-old pacing fillies at Freehold Raceway.
Driver Jordan Stratton put JK American Beauty in the pocket behind Surreality (George Brennan) through opening-half panels of 28 and 57 4/5, but Stratton fired JK American Beauty to the outside off the third turn, and she would take the lead passing the 1:27 3/5 three-quarters.
Once she took the top spot, JK American Beauty opened up on the field, and she would hit the wire 4 3/4 lengths to the good in a final time of 1:56 1/5. 27-1 shot Miss Raggedy Ann (Jim Marohn Jr.) came on to get second, with Surreality fading to third.
A daughter of American Ideal, JK American Beauty is trained by Nancy Johansson for owner/breeder 3 Brothers Stables. JK American Beauty won for the first time in her tenth opportunity, and she has now earned $125,395. She was the 1-5 favorite and paid $2.60 to win.
