Free seminar for potential steeplechase owners Wednesday

DRF Staff|Aug 22, 2015

Flat owners and trainers interested in jump racing will have an opportunity at Saratoga Race Course on Wednesday to learn about the many benefits of owning and racing steeplechase horses.

It will be a full afternoon of food, drink, and interesting company in the air-conditioned At the Rail Pavilion on Saratoga’s clubhouse turn.

Reservations still are available for the Go Jump Racing Saratoga Hospitality Tent, a project of the National Steeplechase Association’s Promotion and Growth Task Force with the support of the National Steeplechase Foundation and the NSA.

“We offer a unique product in American Thoroughbred racing, and our purses are approaching a record,” said NSA president Guy Torsilieri. “The New York Racing Association offers more than $1 million in purses for steeplechase races, and we have attractive racing opportunities up and down the East Coast and into the Midwest. It is an exciting product that more owners and trainers should consider.”

On hand at the Go Jump Racing Hospitality Tent will be owners and trainers who have experienced the many pleasures of steeplechase racing.
Two leaders of the flat-racing community who are steeplechase owners, Ken Ramsey and Cot Campbell, have said they will be at the Go Jump Racing Hospitality Tent. Both have had Eclipse Award winners on the flat and over fences.

Also featured will be a new video produced by HCP Sports that provides a fresh look at jump racing for flat-racing owners looking for a second career for their horses.

“Jump racing is the first second career for many flat horses, and we believe that all owners should be aware of the advantages that our sport offers,” said Bill Price, the Promotion and Growth Task Force chair. “In addition to excellent purses for races that are conducted in attractive locations, we offer top-shelf hospitality for our owners and other horsemen.”

Admission to the Go Jump Racing Saratoga Hospitality Tent is free to potential owners and trainers from flat racing, and reservations are limited. Reservations can be made by calling the NSA office at (410) 392-0700 or e-mailing to RSVP@nationalsteeplechase.com. For further information, contact Price at (704) 621-3001.
