Race 2, for maiden fillies, has two logical contenders. GLORY (5) finished a promising second in her debut, a productive race. The winner Callback returned to finish second in the Grade 2 Santa Ynez; third-place Ben’s Duchess returned to win. Glory, the program favorite, benefits by the distance stretch from 5 ½ to 6 ½ furlongs. WILD AT HEART (4) is a first-timer who has trained exceptionally well for Richard Mandella. By win-early stallion Indian Charlie, her works include a sharp five-furlong gate drill one week ago. Wild At Heart is the main threat to the favorite.
Two deep: Wild at Heart, Glory (4, 5)
Race 3 is a maiden-30 for 3-year-old fillies at seven furlongs, with the most probable winner won the card. Second-time starter OLEANDERPOLARBEAR (5) could be loose on the lead after chasing a fast pace and tiring to third in her debut. John Sadler is 14 for 42 (33 percent) with second-start maiden-claimers the past five years. Oleanderpolarbear is 7-2 second choice.
Single: Oleanderpolarbear (5)
Race 4 is a first-level turf allowance at a mile for fillies and mares. The race is wide open Generally speaking “all” is a cop-out. But there are times when it is preferred. Besides, the longest shot in the field actually has a chance. That is AMELIATHEAVIATOR (4), a 30-1 outsider who will be ridden for the first time by Flavien Prat.
