Free: Santa Anita pick four play for Saturday, April 25
ARCADIA, Calif. – Bettors that appreciate singling non-favorites might like this pick four play Saturday at Santa Anita. I have two singles, neither favored. The 50-cent wager covers the final four races (6-9), and ends with a 12-1 shot in the finale. Cost of the bet is $36.
As for wagering strategy, the pick four is not the only recommendation. If the race-6 single starts at 7-2 or higher, she is worth a win bet in addition to singling in the pick four. If she runs out, the race-9 single is worth a straight bet at 5-1 or higher.

Race 6
YA YA GIRL (#7, 5-1) added front wraps for her second start, which now seems a decoy as she dropped to maiden-75. Perhaps trainer Pete Eurton wanted to scare off potential claims. It worked. Ya Ya Girl did not get claimed, and she did improve. She finished second in a turf sprint, which sets her up as a likely winner stretching out. The pace of this mile turf race should be tepid. Ya Ya Girl will be forwardly placed.
She is a single.
Races 7-8
The “all” button is used sparingly. This is one of those occasions.
With a pair of non-favorite singles, this pick-four ticket seeks to get live to a longshot in the finale. This ticket will use all nine starters in race 7, all eight starters in race 8.
Race 9
AWESOME LUCK (#2, 12-1) ran better than it looks in her fifth-place debut. She broke slowly, rushed forward, and faded. It was a good debut by the California-bred maiden with an interesting pedigree. Sired by Ghostzapper, she is a sibling to G3 winner Lucky J.H. Awesome Luck worked fast since she raced, and should move up second time out. She is a single.
