Curious strategy compromised this gelding in an N2X route. He made an early move inside the leader at the half-mile pole, briefly challenged inside, got shuffled back, lost interest, and faded. He runs best from slightly off the pace.

This 2-year-old maiden-claiming filly “should have been appearing in the winner’s circle,” according to track announcer Michael Wrona. The call was accurate. Queen Bee to You steadied, was blocked, re-rallied, and finished clear of third. She fits in a similar Cal-bred maiden race.
