Free Rose, Blackjackcat target Hollywood Derby

ARCADIA, Calif. – Free Rose and Blackjackcat, second and third in the Grade 2 Twilight Derby at Santa Anita last Friday, are likely to run in the $300,000 Hollywood Derby at Del Mar on Dec. 3, their trainers said.
Free Rose was beaten a half-length by Frank Conversation after setting the pace to the stretch of the Twilight Derby.
“He came out of it all right,” trainer Richard Baltas said.
Earlier this year, Free Rose won the Grade 3 La Jolla Handicap and Grade 2 Del Mar Derby.
Blackjackcat finished a head behind Free Rose after dueling for the lead with that rival. Blackjackcat was third in the Grade 2 Los Alamitos Derby on dirt in September.
“We’ll stay on the turf,” trainer Mark Glatt said.
Trainer Doug O’Neill said on Sunday that no plans have been made for Frank Conversation, who won the Twilight Derby in a 36-1 upset.
