Coady Media Chasey Deville-Pomier's Free Like a Girl won the Misty Bennett Pink Ribbon Stakes at Charles Town on Friday.

Chasey Deville-Pomier was traveling over the weekend with a simple goal: to make it to Lone Star Park on time for the Texas summer yearling sale that will feature a full brother to a horse she co-owns and trains, Free Like a Girl.

“I’ve got to get to Dallas by Monday,” she said.

Deville-Pomier was driving back to this region from West Virginia, where on Friday night Free Like a Girl won the Misty Bennett Pink Ribbon Stakes at Charles Town to become the all-time leading accredited Louisiana-bred earner with $1.9 million in the bank.

Free Like a Girl’s full brother will sell early in Monday's sale, which begins at 10 a.m. Central. It is being held in the sales pavilion just inside the stablegate at Lone Star Park.

There are more than 200 yearlings cataloged to the sale. Following the yearlings a brief mixed session is scheduled that will feature mostly broodmares and weanlings.

Free Like a Girl’s brother sells as Hip No. 7. He’s a son of the Munnings stallion El Deal and out of the Flashy Bull mare Flashy Prize. He is being consigned by Oakridge Farm, Paul Pruett, and was bred in Louisiana.

There is a large cross-section of stallions with offspring in the sale, including individuals from the first crops of Basin, By My Standards, Known Agenda. Raging Bull, and Yaupon. Other stallions represented include Cloud Computing, Exaggerator, Goldencents, Leofric, Runhappy, Shancelot, Star Guitar and Spun to Run.

Below are a few additional hip numbers of interest Monday:

Hip No. 9 is a Cinco Charlie colt who is a half-brother to No Mas Tequila, a past Texas-bred of the year and multiple stakes winner of $466,902. The colt is named Boss Charlie and is a Texas-bred being consigned by CS Sales.

Hip No. 12 is a Custom for Carlos filly out of the Grade 3-winning mare Full Ransom. She’s a Louisiana-bred consigned by Clear Creek Stud and her half-brother, Karnes, has turned in a recent trio of five-furlong bullet works as he nears his debut at Louisiana Downs.

Hip No. 13 is a colt by Volatile out of the Grade 1-winning mare Funny Moon, who earned $530,900. Channon Farm, agent, is the consignor of the colt bred in Louisiana.

Hip No. 49 is a colt by Flameaway and a half-brother to Surveillance, a multiple stakes winner of more than $700,000.

Hip No. 121 is a colt by first crop stallion Independence Hall. His dam is the stakes winner Synapse, who is a daughter of the popular race mare Sarah Lane’s Oates, who was a multiple stakes winner of nearly $900,000. This one is a Louisiana-bred consigned by Straight Line Equine Sales as agent for Coteau Grove Farms.

Hip No. 140 is a Known Agenda colt out of the same mare as Hush It Honey, who was a stakes winner earlier this year at Oaklawn Park and who to date has earned more than $250,000.

Hip No. 153 is a filly from the first crop of Yaupon. She is out of the stakes-winning mare An Eddie Surprise, who earned more than $350,000.

Hip No. 184 is a Mr Speaker filly who is out of the stakes-winning mare Closing Report, making her a half-brother to stakes winner Unified Report. Highlander Training Center, agent, is the consignor of the Texas-bred.

Hip No. 197 is a Coal Front colt who is a half-brother to Grade 2 winner Temple, an earner of nearly $750,000. Red River Farms, agent, is the consignor of the colt bred in Louisiana.
