Free Like a Girl stays perfect at Delta Downs with Magnolia win
Free Like a Girl improved her Delta Downs record to 4 for 4 on Friday night, when she darted to a 1 1/2-length win over Winning Romance in the $100,000 Magnolia. It was another six lengths back in third to Snowball.
Free Like a Girl’s wins at Delta have all come in stakes races. The 3-year-old was facing older rivals in the Magnolia, which was for fillies and mares bred in Louisiana.
Free Like a Girl ($2.20) stalked the pace early in the seven-furlong race run around two turns, moved to the fore on the second bend, and went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:25.92.

Free Like a Girl earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 86.
Pedro Cotto Jr. was aboard the winner for trainer Chasey Deville-Pomier.
Pomier also co-owns the horse with her father, Carl Deville, and partners Gerald Bruno Jr. and Jerry Caroom.
Free Like a Girl is a daughter of El Deal who has now won 9 of 18 starts, with eight of her wins coming in stakes. She has earnings of $662,128.
