Finish: 2nd by 1 1/2

Beyer: 65

Solid runner-up debut by $1.3 million juvenile Curlin filly in mile route. Saved ground behind pace, took dirt, angled out, and was worn down. Finished five lengths clear of third. Bright future.

SAVING SOPHIE

Trainer: Ron Ellis

Last race: Oct. 31, 7th

Finish: 2nd by 4 1/4

Beyer: 73

Improving 3-year-old maiden ran her best race while stretching to a mile. Lagged, split rivals on far turn, went evenly, and finished more than seven lengths clear of third. She is ready to graduate.

RIVER BOYNE

Trainer: Jeff Mullins

Last race: Oct. 31, 8th

Finish: 3rd by 1 1/4

Beyer: 95

Graded winner returned to form second start back from a layoff in a minor turf stakes. Forwardly placed, he waited for room into the lane, rallied inside, and finished well. Expect him in Grade 2 Seabiscuit Handicap on Nov. 30 at Del Mar.

ZUZANNA

Trainer: Bob Hess Jr.

Last race: Nov. 1, 2nd

Finish: 5th by 2 1/2

Beyer: 82

Late-running mare ran better than looked in allowance turf mile. Settled, rallied, and finished evenly in race dominated by speed. Former claiming mare is eligible for $125,000 Tiara, a Claiming Crown race Dec. 7 at Gulfstream Park.

STUBBINS

Trainer: Doug O’Neill

Last race: Nov. 2, 5th

Finish: 4th by 3

Beyer: 97

This 3-year-old ran super in speed-dominated Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. Positioned next to last, he saved ground, put in a huge kick, and finished fastest. Wants longer than five furlongs.

TAISHAN

Trainer: Richard Baltas

Last race: Nov. 3, 6th

Finish: 1st by 1

Beyer: 81

Second-start 2-year-old stretched to a mile and wore down favorite Tizamagician, winning going away. Son of Twirling Candy may eventually switch to grass, but meantime will remain on dirt and could target the Grade 2 Los Alamitos Futurity on Dec. 7.
