Juvenile ran well as favorite in maiden turf mile. Rank, rated behind slow pace, kicked, narrowed gap. Blinkers helped. Fits in Cal-bred maiden turf mile Jan. 8 at Santa Anita.

KRAHENBUHL

Last race: Nov. 18, race 2

Finish: First by seven and one-half lengths

Beyer: 88

Third-start maiden crushed 6 ½-furlong sprint in fast time (1:15.57). Pressed pace, burst clear, kept going strong. Lightly raced 3-year-old has run well on all three So Cal tracks. Contender in N1X sprint.

COURTSIDE

Beyer: 84

Second-start maiden stretched out and romped. Sent from gate, tucked third on rail while full of run, angled two wide into lane, ran away. Son of Gormley can go up the ladder.

LITTLE RACHEL

Trainer: Librado Barocio

Last race: Nov. 19, race 4

Finish: Third by two and one-half lengths

Beyer: 73

Best as closing sprinter, veteran claiming mare was positioned too close to slow pace, lost ground, loomed, went flat. Claimed for $20k by Barocio from Jeff Bonde. Fits vs. similar.

SEAL TEAM

Trainer: Richard Mandella

Last race: Nov. 19, race 5

Finish: Second by three and one-half lengths

Beyer: 60

Promising debut by War Front juvenile colt from graded stakes-winning dam. Rated in turf sprint, lost ground turn, finished evenly. Wants longer than five furlongs.

CAPTAIN SPARROW

Last race: Nov. 19, race 5

Finish: Fourth by four lengths

Beyer: 58

Speightstown juvenile scratched recently when sick, and ran like he needed a start in maiden turf sprint. Showed speed inside, dueled, tired late. Should improve second out. He works well on dirt.

DEVIL MOON

Trainer: George Papaprodomou

Last race: Nov. 20, race 2

Finish: Second by nose

Beyer: 63

Class-drop maiden broke through gate, tucked third on rail, rallied inside in lane. Good try. Claimed for $20k by from Richard Mandella. Can win maiden-claiming race next out.

GINOBILI

Finish: Second by head

Beyer: 100

Graded winner ran super in comeback sprint. Dueled, put away favorite Forbidden Kingdom, nailed by late-running stablemate. Enters winter season fresh, fits anywhere.
