QUEEN GODDESS
Trainer: Michael McCarthy
Last race: July 16, race 5
Finish: 2nd by 1
Beyer: 76
First-time starter in maiden turf mile dropped toward rear, finished fast, ran out of room. Promising debut by well-bred 3-year-old filly. Probably the one to beat second time out.
EREBUS
Trainer: Walther Solis
Last race: July 17, race 3
Finish: 7th by 11 3/4
Beyer: 35
Gelded since his last-place debut and returning with abbreviated work tab, juvenile maiden sped to lead inside, battled into lane, tired. Sure to improve next out, possibly at high odds.
SMASH TICKET
Trainer: Todd Fincher
Last race: July 17, race 5
Finish: 1st by 5
Beyer: 78
Lone Star shipper crushed maiden fillies. Showed early speed, dueled two wide, drew off, had plenty left. Impressive win makes her an early favorite for Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante Sept. 5.
GINOBILI
Trainer: Richard Baltas
Last race: July 17, race 8
Finish: 1st by 9 3/4
Beyer: 104
Stretch-out sprinter added blinkers, blitzed entry-level allowance mile. Dueled three wide on hot pace, broke it open far turn, crushed with higher figure than Grade 2 later on card.
TRIPOLI
Trainer: John Sadler
Last race: July 17, race 10
Finish: 2nd by 1/2
Beyer: 100
Former turf colt has found a home on dirt. Lagged off pace in Grade 2 route, rallied wide, finished well in race won by pace-presser. Tripoli is a contender for the Pacific Classic on Aug. 21.
RUSHIE
Trainer: Michael McCarthy
Last race: July 17, race 10
Finish: 6th by 8 1/2
Beyer: 87
Compromised by surface in Grade 2 dirt route, he set pace inside over anti-inside surface, battled into lane, tired. It was his second straight bad trip. Might fit Grade 2 Pat O’Brien at seven furlongs.
LINCOLN HAWK
Trainer: Richard Baltas
Last race: July 17, race 11
Finish: 3rd by 1 1/4
Beyer: 79
Allowance turf-route colt had no shot rallying from last. Trailed while leaders set slow pace, saved ground, put in fast finish in about 29 seconds. Can beat similar with pace to run at.
