Frac Daddy still perfect on synthetics with Eclipse Stakes win
ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The Ken McPeek-trained shipper Frac Daddy ($3.70) blew away a quality local contingent Sunday at Woodbine in the Grade 2, $202,400 Eclipse Stakes.
With Luis Contreras aboard, Frac Daddy tracked the leading Really Sharp along the inside through moderate fractions in the 1 1/16-mile event. He assumed command on the far turn and drew off in the stretch to prevail by five lengths over Really Sharp, who nosed out Alpha Bettor for second. The final time of 1:42.74 was 0.52 seconds off the Polytrack record.
“I got a little pressure on the rail, but he was nice and comfortable,” Contreras said. “He was in tight, but he didn’t care. He had a nice kick from the quarter pole. I think the farther the race, probably the better he goes. He really loves Polytrack.”
Frac Daddy, who is now 3 for 3 on synthetics, earned $120,000 for Magic City Thoroughbred Partners.
