Frac Daddy eyes Dominion Day

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Frac Daddy improved his record on synthetic surfaces to 3 for 3 by dominating a field that included 2013 Canadian champion older male Alpha Bettor in Sunday’s Grade 2, $202,400 Eclipse Stakes.
Frac Daddy stalked front-runner Really Sharp in the early going before taking command on the far turn and winning by five lengths. Frac Daddy, 4, earned a 100 Beyer, his second straight triple-digit mark on Polytrack. He earned a 103 in the Grade 3 Ben Ali Stakes at Keeneland on April 19.
“He’s just getting more powerful the older he gets,” trainer Ken McPeek said. “He’s got a long stride, and he’s got tactical speed. We’ve always been real high on him, but as a 3-year-old, he was just a little immature. Obviously, he loves the synthetic.”
Given Frac Daddy’s affinity for synthetic surfaces, McPeek said he would return to Woodbine for the next stakes in the older-male division, the Grade 3, $150,000 Dominion Day Handicap over 1 1/4 miles on July 1.
“He’s definitely coming back for the Dominion Day,” he said. “He’s going to be shipped back to Kentucky. We’ll tinker with him down here for a little while, then ship him back to Woodbine for the Dominion Day.”
McPeek added that the Grade 1, $1 million TVG Pacific Classic at Del Mar on Aug. 24 is a long-term goal for Frac Daddy.
