Foursome from Shakertown rematched in Twin Spires Turf Sprint
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
Don’t blink or you could miss a pretty good race. Friday’s Grade 3 Twin Spires Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs features a well-matched field of a dozen grass sprint specialists set to sizzle five furlongs in quest of a $150,000 purse.
Something Extra, Channel Marker, Undrafted, and Power Alert – the first four finishers in last month’s Shakertown at Keeneland – square off again against a group that also includes Heitai, winner of his last three starts, including a pair of grass stakes; and Good Deed, the only filly in the field.

“She had a really bad trip, should have won her last start in Florida, but we learned something – that she can pass horses – from that race,” said Good Deed’s trainer, Steve Margolis.
Twin Spires Turf Sprint, race 9
Key Contenders
Undrafted (Last 3 Beyers: 92-97-92)
◗ The third-place finisher in the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint got hung wide making his 2015 debut in the Shakertown and looked like a horse who may have needed the race returning from a five-month layoff.
Something Extra (Last 3 Beyers: 101-89-92)
◗ Has finished in front of Undrafted in two of their last three meetings and owns the highest last-race Beyer in the field.
Power Alert (Last 3 Beyers 89-100-96)
◗ He suffered his first loss in three U.S. starts as the post-time favorite in the Shakertown.
Good Deed (Last 3 Beyers 87-97-97)
◗ Margolis said he could have run his 6-year-old mare next week against her own kind in the Unbridled Sydney but said “she’s doing so well now and loves the course, so we thought we’d take a chance against the boys.”
