Four tracks cancel over weekend

Racing was canceled at four racetracks over the weekend for varying reasons.

On Saturday, Arapahoe Park in Aurora, Colo., canceled after its fourth race because of a power outage; Assiniboia Downs in Winnipeg, Manitoba, canceled its eighth and ninth races because of a starting gate malfunction; and Marquis Downs in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, canceled its final three races because of stormy weather.

On Sunday, River Downs near Cincinnati, halted racing after its fifth race because of a power outage. It was the second time in a month that racing was canceled there after a loss of power. The first was on July 8, which forced the postponement for one week of the Cincinnatian Stakes.
