Four tie for fastest furlong on Day One of OBS April under-tack preview

Nicole Russo|Apr 15, 2019

With juveniles battling a persistent headwind throughout the day, four horses tied for the fastest furlong and three tied for the fastest quarter mile during the first session of the under-tack preview show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co's spring sale of 2-year-olds in training.

A juvenile by freshman sire Daredevil and juveniles sired by young stallions Bodemeister, Shanghai Bobby, and Tapizar each worked a furlong in 10 seconds flat on the Ocala Training Center's all-weather Safetrack surface.

Daredevil, by More Than Ready, won the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes as a juvenile. His filly who shared honors during the breeze show is out of the stakes-winning Holy Bull mare Holy Blitz, making her a half-sister to Eclipse Award champion Judy the Beauty. Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds consigns the filly, as agent, and also handles the Shanghai Bobby filly who shared the fastest time. The latter is out of stakes winner Fast Resource; the Bob and John mare is from the family of Grade 1 winner and leading sire Into Mischief.

The Bodemeister colt, consigned by Whitman Sales, as agent, is out of the Include mare Just Fabulous, making him a half-brother to graded-stakes placed Midnight On Oconee.

The Tapizar colt is out of the Henrythenavigator mare Franchesca, a half-sister to stakes winner Abbey Bridge. He is consigned by Off the Hook, as agent.

Fillies by freshman sires Danza and Fast Anna, and a filly by Twirling Candy, each worked a quarter in 21 seconds flat.

Danza, by Street Boss, scored his biggest win in the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby. His standout filly at this sale is a half-sister to stakes-placed Irish Heroine, both produced by the stakes-placed Cactus Ridge mare Irish Ridge. Wavertree Stables, as agent, consigns.

Grade 1-placed Fast Anna is by Medaglia d'Oro and out of champion Dreaming of Anna. His fast-working filly, consigned by Envision Equine, as agent, is out of the graded stakes-placed Forest Wildcat mare Hermione’s Magic, who has already produced stakes-placed Tizanillusion.

Twirling Candy's filly who shared fastest-quarter honors is consigned by de Meric Sales, as agent. She is out of Henley, by Corinthian, a half-sister to graded stakes winner Mr. Commons.
