Four for Royal Ascot: Simon Mapletoft
Archie Watson got off to a winning start with AADDEEY at Ripon in April, with the six-year-old having been gelded ahead of that successful reappearance, and he has reportedly improved considerably for that run over 1m4f. Hollie Doyle could once again dictate the pace on this strong traveller, who promises to relish the extra quarter-mile on such a stiff track.
Karl Burke won the Queen Mary last year with Dramatised and the Yorkshire trainer looks to have another live chance this time around with BEAUTIFUL DIAMOND, with the daughter of Twilight Son making such a favourable impression on her sole start in a 5f fillies’ maiden at Nottingham. The way she quickened under a hands-and-heels ride suggests she has the class to win this, and the forecast fast ground further enhances her prospects.

MY PROSPERO is unexposed over 10f but proved his aptitude for the trip with a cracking third in last season’s Champion Stakes over course and distance. William Haggas’s four-year-old ran on well after being outpaced over an inadequate trip in the Lockinge and could get the perfect tow into the race, courtesy of likely pace-setter Luxembourg.
KINROSS took his form to a new level over a variety of trips last year, but he proved his liking for a stiff 6f when winning the Champions Sprint over course and distance in October. Quicker ground isn’t an issue to Ralph Beckett’s gelding, as he proved at York in August, and he ran well fresh at Haydock on his reappearance last season, so the lack of a run isn’t a concern either. He’s the class act in an ordinary-looking renewal.
