Found Money leads one-two finish for Reddams in Juvenile

ARCADIA, Calif. - Found Money and Mrazek finished first and second in Sunday’s $125,250 Santa Anita Juvenile, giving owners and breeders Paul and Zillah Reddam a sweep of the exacta and continuing their remarkable span of success in 2-year-old racing in recent months.
Since the last week of April when 2-year-old racing began on this circuit, the Reddams have won seven races for 2-year-olds at Santa Anita. Found Money and Mrazek were bred by the Reddams and are by their California-based stallion Square Eddie. Doug O’Neill trains both horses.
“This absolutely makes me feel proud,” Paul Reddam said. “This is a little crazy.”
Found Money ($11.80) and 7-2 Mrazek fought for the lead throughout the Santa Anita Juvenile at 5 1/2 furlongs before Found Money pulled away in the final sixteenth to win by 1 3/4 lengths. Ridden by Corey Nakatani, Found Money was timed in 1:04.24.
O’Neill said he was surprised by the way the race turned out, expecting Mrazek to be sitting just off the pace.
“I’ve got to dissect the race,” he said. “I think they got away with an easy first quarter.”
Found Money and Mrazek, ridden by Mario Gutierrez, were a head apart after an opening quarter-mile in 22.18 seconds. They were a length clear of rivals on the turn and were not threatened by the other runners.
“We got away great and there wasn’t too much heat on the inside,” Nakatani said. “He was able to be comfortable.”
Xingontothebone finished third, 2 1/4 lengths behind Mrazek. Swiss Minister was fourth, followed by 2-1 favorite Dubdubwatson, and Pistone Steel.
Found Money beat California-bred maidens in his debut at 4 1/2 furlongs on a wet-fast track on May 15, setting a track record of 50.98 seconds. The colt has earned $108,600.
