Forty's Sweetheart tries to run record to 3 for 3

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – There are numerous large fields on Friday, the last one of the Woodbine meet. Eleven 2-year-old fillies were entered in a wide-open first-level optional claimer in which Forty’s Sweetheart will put her unbeaten record on the line.
Forty’s Sweetheart debuted in a five-furlong dash for $40,000 maidens here Oct. 1. Sent off at 10-1, she came on strongly from fourth to win going away in a quick time of 57.77 seconds.
Forty’s Sweetheart reappeared against $40,000 winners Nov. 4. After breaking inward in that 6 1/2-furlong event, she closed from midpack to prevail by 1 1/4 lengths. Trainer Mark Fournier claimed her from trainer Mike Doyle.
Forty’s Sweetheart has worked twice leading up to Friday’s feature, and Gary Boulanger will break her from the rail in the six-furlong dash.

◗ She wore blinkers in her first two races and took them off for her last race, a rallying third in a seven-furlong allowance for Ontario-sired stock. The blinkers go back on today. Expect her to flash some early foot under a hot Luis Contreras.

◗ The most experienced filly in the field, she was in poor route form prior to winning a recent 6 1/2-furlong sprint for $40,000 claimers.

◗ She beat $32,000 maidens in her July 29 opener, then faded to finish far back after leading the way in the Grade 1 Natalma Stakes on the grass.
