ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Fortyfiveseventy brings improving form to Thursday’s Woodbine feature, a 7 1/2-furlong inner turf event for nonwinners-of-three Ontario-sired allowance types and $40,000 claimers.
Fortyfiveseventy competed in two-thirds of the 2023 Canadian Triple Tiara, a series for Canadian-bred 3-year-old fillies. She checked in third behind Elysian Field and Wickenheiser in the Woodbine Oaks before ending up fifth in the Bison City Stakes, both Tapeta routes.
Fortyfiveseventy raced three times this year, in a trio of two-turn inner turf tilts at the same level as Thursday’s engagement. She was a flat fifth going 1 1/16 miles in her June 28 season opener. A month later, she improved her Beyer Speed Figure from 61 to 72 when fifth on the turnback to 7 1/2 furlongs. Most recently, she rallied for third behind favorites Swinging Mandy and Silent Sky when traveling a mile, over a course labeled good.
Justin Stein rides Fortyfiveseventy for owner-trainer Barbara Minshall, who bought the daughter of Perfect Timber for a bargain $4,000 as a yearling.

Silent Sky always attracts lots of money and should go favored with leading rider Sahin Civaci aboard for trainer Kevin Attard. She came close to beating nonwinners-of-two Ontario-sired allowance stock in the fall and then cleared that condition over seven furlongs in her May 10 season opener.
Silent Sky could only manage to finish a belated third with a fast pace to close behind in her penultimate outing on firm ground. She was much sharper most recently while edging out Fortyfiveseventy for second.
Cozy Curlin Kitten dropped from open first-level allowance company to beat nonwinners-of-two opposition when tagged for $40,000 in her last race. The 72 Beyer she earned then puts her in the ballpark here with Pietro Moran inheriting the mount from Civaci. The hot apprentice Moran has one win from six mounts for her trainer, Darwin Banach.
Foxy Diva has been saddled with the outside post 9 in her first outing since beating $25,000 nonwinners-of-two rivals at a mile on the inner layout with a 73 Beyer on Aug. 22.
Happy Valentine is dropping from conditioned allowance/optional-claiming company to compete for the $40,000. She came up empty in her only turf race last year at 2 and doesn’t have much turf breeding.
Domer Allure struggled in her two starts at the meet. She peaked around this time last year, and this third start of her form cycle could be an improved one.
Seattle Causeway and Olympic Fencer both possess speed. Seattle Causeway is jumping up off a victory in a $7,500 conditioned claimer, and Olympic Fencer is adding blinkers while stretching out for her second start after a long layoff.
Post time for the eight-race card is 4:50 p.m.
