Fortune Got Even a standout in Equine Sales Oaks
Fortune Got Even can break through with a stakes win Friday night in the $75,000 Equine Sales Oaks at Evangeline Downs in Opelousas, La.
She will start as one of the top choices in the one-mile race for 3-year-old fillies who graduated from selected sales in Louisiana.
Fortune Got Even has placed in two stakes in her career, making her the most accomplished member of the seven-horse field Friday. Others set to start include Claire’s Flair, who is a half-sister to Super Fuse, a multiple stakes winner of $479,618.
KEY CONTENDERS
Fortune Got Even, by Stephen Got Even
Last 3 Beyers: 49-52-53
◗ She has made three stakes appearances in her eight-race career. Fortune Got Even was third in her stakes debut in the $100,000 Louisiana Jewel at a mile Nov. 16 at Delta Downs, then ran second in the track’s $70,000 Azalea, a seven-furlong race run around two turns March 1. From there, Fortune Got Even finished seventh in the $75,000 Crescent City Oaks at Fair Grounds after a troubled trip March 23.
◗ Fortune Got Even was dismissed at 76-1 in the Crescent City, but she could go favored Friday. In addition to the stakes-placings, she owns the best last-race Beyer Speed Figure in the Equine Sales Oaks. Fortune Got Even also has more two-turn experience than all of her rivals Friday.
◗ Ashley Broussard has the mount from the rail for owner-trainer Ricky Courville.
Kris T., by Mass Media
Last 3 Beyers: 18-47-62
◗ She has a chance to control the pace against these, as she is stretching out around two turns off a pacesetting fifth-place effort over seven furlongs in an open-company allowance April 10 at Evangeline.
◗ Kris T. draws well in post 6 as she is outside of her main pace rival, Cohenscollegefund, who is coming off a wire-to-wire win in a $5,000 conditioned claiming race at six furlongs April 24 at Evangeline.
◗ Kris T. is making a rare start at two turns. While her sire was a Grade 1 winner at one turn, her dam, Day’s Sunset, won her maiden over 1 1/16 miles at Fair Grounds.
◗ Kerwin Clark has the mount for Sandra Domiano and trainer Frank Pennino.
