Forester's Turn digs in to win Greenwood Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Forester’s Turn prevailed over another son of leading Ontario sire Old Forester, Forester’s Fortune, in Saturday’s $150,000 Greenwood Stakes at Woodbine.
Forester’s Turn ($9.90) dueled with Celebratory through honest fractions in the six-furlong turf sprint for Canadian-bred 3-year-olds. Forester’s Fortune saved ground behind the leaders on the turn, and was angled wide for the drive by Daisuke Fukumoto.

Forester’s Fortune poked his head in front at the eighth pole, but Forester’s Turn dug in late to score by a half-length under Kazushi Kimura in 1:07.91.
Artemus Citylimits, the 7-10 favorite from Kentucky, finished a non-threatening third in his first grass start. He was followed by Celebratory, Last American Exit, and Barilko.
It was the second straight win in the Greenwood for trainer Robert Tiller, who won it last year with the popular champion Pink Lloyd when it was for 3-year-olds and up. Forester’s Turn earned $90,000 in his first stakes win. He is owned by Rolph Davis.
“He just ran two weeks ago, and we knew this race didn’t come up with a lot of horses,” said Tiller, who supplemented Forester's Turn to the Greenwood. “This is a nice horse. He’s won five out of seven. He’s a homebred. (Davis) is a wonderful owner, who loves the game.”
