Fonner Park cancels after two races

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - Live racing was called off following the second race on Saturday at Fonner Park when riders elected not to continue. Following a day of racing over a muddy sealed track on Friday, rain moved back into the area Friday night and continued all day Saturday. Riders cited poor visibility and inability of the track floats to eliminate tire ruts in the surface as the reason not to ride.

The $15,000-added Baxter Stakes, for 3-year-olds, was rescheduled for next Saturday and will be co-featured with the $15,000 Runza Stakes.
