Fonner: Burning Memories eyes prize

Grand Island, Neb. - Burning Memories heads a list of 14 older fillies and mares nominated to Saturday's $25,000 Al Swihart Memorial Handicap, and a victory could earn her horse of the meet honors.

A 5-year-old homebred trained by Jim Cranwell, Burning Memories won the Bold Accent Handicap at four furlongs on opening weekend. She returned with an open allowance victory in March, then battled Gin N Ginger throughout and won the Runza Handicap by 2 1/4 lengths on April 19.

Gin N Ginger seeks her first win in three starts this year.
