Fog of War to miss remainder of year with shin injury

The 2-year-old colt Fog of War emerged from his impressive win in the Grade 1 Summer Stakes at Woodbine on Sept. 16 with an injured shin that will force him to miss the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf and preclude him from racing again this year, trainer Chad Brown said Monday.
Fog of War was a sharp debut winner in a Saratoga turf sprint before capturing the one-mile Summer by three-quarters of a length in a performance stronger than the bare margin of victory. The Summer win had solidified Fog of War’s position near the top of overseas ante-post betting marts for the BC Juvenile Turf but now Brown and owner Peter Brant will have to wait and focus on a 2019 campaign.
Fog of War, a $400,000 Keeneland yearling purchase a year ago, is by War Front and out of Say, by Galileo.
