Flutterby scores for 94-year-old trainer Bozzo

Flutterby, runner-up in last month’s Grade 2 Princess Rooney Stakes, cruised to a 3 1/4-length victory in Saturday’s $75,000 Gold Mover Stakes for fillies and mares at Gulfstream Park.
A 4-year-old filly, Flutterby ($3.20) is owned, trained, and was bred by 94-year-old Jerry Bozzo. She covered six furlongs under Luca Panici in 1:10.05 for her second win in her last three starts, all in stakes locally.
She tipped her hand that she was sitting on a big performance by blowing out three furlongs in 34.07 seconds on Thursday.
“She was absolutely ready, because the boy didn’t move on her, and she did it on her own,” Bozzo said.
“It was a typical run,” Bozzo added. “Very short lead early, and when you get near the money, go. There were a couple of speed horses in there that gave her a run, that challenged her, but she doesn’t care. She’s confident in herself.”
Distinta rallied to get second, two lengths in front of Quiet Hour.
