Florida Oaks winner Fifty Five changes hands

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Fifty Five, a 3-year-old New York-bred filly who won the Grade 3 Florida Oaks at Tampa Bay Downs, was purchased privately by Peter Brant and has been turned over to trainer Chad Brown.
On Sunday, Fifty Five worked a half-mile in 48 seconds over the Palm Meadows turf course in company with fellow 3-year-old filly India Mantuana, another recent addition to the Brown brigade. The pair came home in 23.07 seconds for their final quarter.
Fifty Five, a daughter of Get Stormy, is being pointed to the $100,000 Memories of Silver Stakes at Aqueduct on April 23. India Mantuana, a troubled fifth in the Grade 3 Herecomesthebride on March 4, is being pointed to the Grade 3, $150,000 Edgewood at Churchill Downs on May 5.
Fifty Five, previously owned by Empire Equines and trained by Tom Bush, was third in the Grade 3 Sweetest Chant at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 4.
“She came into me in outstanding shape from Tom Bush," Brown said. "He did a great job with her, so we’re happy to have her. She worked really good. We haven’t made any big adjustments.”
