Florida Derby runner-up Majesto makes 4-year-old debut

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – There are three allowance races on Friday’s program, the first of which features the return of Majesto, who finished second to Nyquist in the 2016 Florida Derby.
Majesto, 18th behind Nyquist five weeks later in the Kentucky Derby, has not started since finishing sixth in the Curlin Stakes last July at Saratoga. He is one of two horses whom trainer Gustavo Delgado sends out to go 1 1/16 miles under first-level optional-claiming conditions in the seventh race on Friday, along with recent maiden winner Prince Tito. Among the competition is Unbridled Holiday, who finished eighth as a 103-1 outsider in this year’s Florida Derby.
Concealedwithakiss will go postward as the odds-on favorite about 30 minutes later in a $44,000 optional-claiming test for fillies and mares. Concealedwithakiss is coming off a 1 1/4-length victory in the Ana T. overnight handicap on June 2 and has now finished on the board in seven of her last eight starts for trainer Luis Duco.
Turf-sprint specialists Very Colorful and Wine List may vie for favoritism in Friday’s ninth race, a five-furlong dash on the grass also be run under first-level allowance conditions.
