Florida court OK's signal exchange

A ruling by the Florida Supreme Court Thursday paves the way for Calder Race Course and Gulfstream Park to take simulcast wagering on each other's live cards as well as on any other signal the live track imports.

The court ruled unconstitutional a 10-year-old state law that limits the simulcasts Thoroughbred tracks can show from other parimutuel facilities within 25 miles.

A representative from Gulfstream Park, which is not conducting a live race meet now, said agreements must be reached between Calder and Florida horsemen before Gulfstream can begin simulcasting the signal from Calder, which is running live.
