Flintshire working toward Manhattan

ELMONT, N.Y. – Flintshire, a multiple Group 1 winner, is getting closer to a return to the races as he worked a half-mile in 52.10 seconds Monday morning over a soft Belmont inner turf course. It was his second work since joining trainer Chad Brown’s stable in March.
Like the rest of the turf workers Monday, Flintshire had to breeze around a triple set of orange cones that were up to keep horses from working on the part of the course used for racing. Still, Flintshire, who worked outside of Money Multiplier, got his final quarter in 22.91 seconds.
Brown said that “based on his first two workouts, he’s a possibility” for the Grade 1 Manhattan, the race run right before the Belmont Stakes on June 11.
“The horse has had two half-miles now, and as you’d expect, he’s an impressive horse working on the turf,” Brown said. “The horse looks like he’s got a really good foundation under him anyway. He has plenty of races, and he came to me in outstanding shape from Andre Fabre.”
◗ Brown figures to have a top contender for Saturday’s Grade 3, $150,000 Beaugay in Ball Dancing, who worked a half-mile in 52.01 seconds over the turf in company with Wekeela on Monday. Though nominated to the Beaugay, Wekeela is being pointed to the New York Stakes on June 10, Brown said.
Others expected for the Beaugay are Camille Claudel, My Miss Sophia, Recepta, Sistas Stroll, Strike Charmer, Tapitry, and Ticking Katie.
