Flintshire to stand at Hill ‘n’ Dale in 2017

A multinational partnership has been formed to stand Flintshire, a Grade/Group 1 winner in three different countries and the morning-line favorite in the Breeders’ Cup Turf, at Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms in Lexington, Ky., upon his retirement following the Breeders’ Cup.

The partnership is composed of Flintshire’s owner-breeder, Juddmonte Farms, John G. Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms, S.F. Bloodstock, and China Horse Club.

"This is an exciting group that has come together to support and stand behind an incredible international star who brought his best race to every corner of the globe and distinguished himself truly as a horse-of-the-world," Sikura said. “The fact that Juddmonte is staying in and has committed mares to him says a lot about their belief in the horse to become a great sire.

“I believe Kentucky needs to become more global again in attracting international stallion prospects,” Sikura continued. “Look at the success of War Front and Kitten's Joy. We should be embracing these kinds of opportunities in order to be relevant to all marketplaces. I have been waiting for the right horse to stand that fits this mold. I believe Flintshire is the one.”

Flintshire enters the Breeders’ Cup with eight wins in 23 career starts and earnings of $8,909,910.

A British-bred 6-year-old son of Dansili, Flintshire scored triumphs in the U.S. in the Grade 1 Manhattan Stakes, two renewals of the Grade 1 Sword Dancer Stakes, and the Grade 2 Bowling Green Stakes. He was second in the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Turf. Chad Brown trains the horse during his U.S. starts.

Internationally, Flintshire did his best running in France, winning the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris and the Group 3 Prix du Lys, while also finishing second in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in 2014 and 2015. He won the Group 1 Hong Kong Vase in 2014, and then finished second in the same race the following year.

Flintshire finished in the money twice in the Group 1 Coronation Cup in England and ran second in the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic in the U.A.E.

Flintshire is out of the French classic-placed Group 2-winning Sadler’s Wells mare Dance Routine, who is the dam of four winners from five foals to race. He is a full brother to Group 2-placed multiple stakes-winner Dance Moves and a half-brother to multiple stakes producer Deliberate.
His extended family includes Group 1 winner Spanish Moon, Group 2 winners Spanish Sun and Daring Miss, and Group 3 winners Apogee and Apsis.
