Unbeaten Horse of the Year Flightline had his first mare confirmed in foal this week. Lane’s End Farm, which stands the son of Tapit for a syndicate, reported that Lady Scarlet is in foal to Flightline. The daughter of Union Rags won four of 12 starts, including the Grade 3 Miss Preakness Stakes at Pimlico and the Cicada Stakes at Aqueduct. Lady Scarlet was a $200,000 purchase by Glendalough at Dromoland out of the Keeneland January horses of all ages sale and was retired to broodmare duty this season at age 4. :: DRF BREEDING LIVE: Real-time coverage of breeding and sales Lady Scarlet is one of a plethora of graded stakes winners or producers in the first book for Flightline, who is standing for an advertised fee of $200,000. Other mares booked to Flightline, who is expected to cover about 150 mares, include Littleprincessemma, the dam of Triple Crown winner American Pharoah; champion Shamrock Rose; the dams of champions Essential Quality, Forte, and Midnight Bisou; and Grade 1 winners Bell’s the One, Juju’s Map, Paulassilverlining, and Obligatory.
