Flightline, after short break, returns to jogging

DEL MAR, Calif. - Flightline had only a few days off after his electrifying win in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar on Sept. 3.
“By the third day, in the afternoon, he was rambunctious in his stall,” said Juan Leyva, assistant to trainer John Sadler.
Flightline’s energy led to a resumption of racetrack activity at Del Mar on Sept. 7, when the colt resumed jogging. Flightline was jogged on a daily basis through Sunday. Flightline and the rest of the Sadler stable are scheduled to be vanned to Santa Anita late Monday.
Flightline will be walked at the barn on Tuesday and jogged on Wednesday before he resumes galloping on Thursday, Leyva said.
Unbeaten in five starts, Flightline will not race again until the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Keeneland on Nov. 5.

Flightline earned a fees-paid berth to the BC Classic with his easy win by 19 1/4 lengths in the Pacific Classic at 1 1/4 miles, a record margin in the 32nd running of Del Mar’s leading annual race for older horses.
Leyva said Flightline will have “five or six” workouts at Santa Anita before being flown to Keeneland.
Owned by the partnership of Hronis Racing, Siena Farm, Summer Wind Equine, West Point Thoroughbreds and Woodford Racing, Flightline, a 4-year-old colt by Tapit, is unbeaten in five starts, winning by a combined 62 3/4 lengths.
Flightline won the Grade 1 Metropolitan Mile Handicap at Belmont Park by six lengths in his 2022 debut on June 11, the closest his rivals have been at the wire.
