Adam Coglianese/NYRA Flatterywillgetyou and jockey Cornelio Velasquez win the Bouwerie Stakes by one length Monday.

ELMONT, N.Y. – Flatterywillgetyou became a stakes winner in her first attempt while registering her fourth consecutive victory, a one-length triumph over Absatootly in the $125,000 Bouwerie Stakes for 3-year-old New York-bred fillies Monday at Belmont Park.

Flatterywillgetyou was ridden by Cornelio Velasquez in his last regular day on the local circuit. Velasquez moves his tack to Gulfstream Park on Wednesday.

Flatterywillgetyou, a daughter of Flatter, raced well placed from the outset, stalking the early pace of 2-1 favorite Bag of Tricks. Flatterywillgetyou edged to the lead when asked nearing the quarter pole, withstood a strong bid from Absatootly in early stretch, then remained clear under urging to the wire.

Absatootly was hung wide throughout, took a run at the winner leaving the turn, but was not good enough. She was easily second-best, finishing two lengths in front of the rallying Wonderment.

Flatterywillgetyou, who has won four of five career starts, is trained by Linda Rice for Everythings Cricket Racing. Her final time of 1:23.42 for seven furlongs was 0.52 seconds faster than 3-year-old colts and geldings covered the same distance earlier on the card in the Mike Lee Stakes. She paid $9.90.

“I thought she had a big job ahead of her today,” said Rice. “But her last two races were powerful, and I think she clearly likes the track here, the big, sweeping turns better at Belmont than the inner track at Aqueduct. And it looks like seven-eighths is a good distance for her as well.”
