Flatter filly fastest at halfway point of Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. preview
A filly by the late Flatter holds the fastest furlong time at the midway point of the under-tack preview show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co.’s June sale of 2-year-olds and horses of racing age.
The Flatter filly breezed a furlong, the standard measuring stick for these shows, in 9 4/5 seconds on the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface, with 21 juveniles tied behind her at 10 seconds. The breeze show is taking place over six sessions this week, with three of those in the books as of Wednesday evening. The OBS June sale, which concludes the formal 2-year-old sale season in North America, begins next Tuesday, June 7 and runs over three sessions, through June 9.
The bullet-working filly by Flatter, an A.P. Indy horse who died in May, is consigned by bloodstock agent Julie Davies. She is out of the unraced Candy Ride mare Wicked Ride, dam of three winners from four starters; two of those winners are by stallions from the A.P. Indy sireline.

Wicked Ride is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner and stakes producer Wickedly Perfect, by Flatter's full brother Congrats. Wicked Ride is also a half-sister to stakes winner Wicked Mizz and to Grade 2-placed Ash Zee. Both have produced stakes performers, as has another sister, Wickedly Smart.
Among juveniles working a quarter-mile, a group that grows slightly larger as the season progresses, a Florida-bred filly by Army Mule worked in 20 2/5 seconds. She easily holds the bullet at the distance at the midway point of the breeze show, with a filly by Collected holding sole second place behind her at 20 4/5 seconds. Both Army Mule and Collected are freshman sires of 2022.
The Army Mule filly, consigned by Fast Horses, as agent, is out of the unraced Super Saver mare Super Holiday, a half-sister to stakes-placed Charming She Is. Graded stakes winners Double Honor, Prophet's Warning, and Mugaritz appear on the catalog page.
A handful of juveniles have also worked three furlongs, with a filly by Florida sire Adios Charlie and a colt by Ohio resident Drill both working in 33 3/5 seconds to lead that smaller group at the midway point.
