Flashy American wins the Sixty Sails
Four-Footed Fotos Sixty Sails winner Flashy American has been facing some of the best females in the country.

Flashy American has represented herself well against some quality competition over the past year, and those efforts make her the probable favorite in the $100,000 She’s All In Handicap at Remington Park on Sunday.

The She’s All In, named for the retired millionaire bred in Oklahoma, is part of the closing-day program at Remington. There are five stakes on the card worth a collective $550,000. The highlight is the $250,000 Springboard Mile. The card starts at 1:30 p.m. Central.

Flashy American is the 123-pound highweight in the She’s All In. She won the Grade 3 Sixty Sails at Hawthorne in April and has been picking up checks against such rivals as Don’t Tell Sophia, Belle Gallantey, and Molly Morgan.

“She’s been a hard-knocking mare,” said Ken McPeek, who trains the four-time stakes winner for Preston Stables.

She’s All In (Race 9)

KEY CONTENDERS

Flashy American (Last 3 Beyers: 91-79-85)

◗ She enters off a fourth-place finish in the Grade 2 Falls City Handicap at Churchill Downs on Nov. 27, beaten just 1 1/4 lengths. Frivolous won over Don’t Tell Sophia, Molly Morgan, and the 10-1 Flashy American.

“It was a great race from her,” McPeek said. “She hooked a couple of toughies. She had a good work out of the race, is doing really well.”

◗ Flashy American will be shortening up from 1 1/8 miles to one mile and 70 yards Sunday.

◗ Chris Landeros has the mount from post 9 in the field of 11.

“Tactically, we’ll leave it up to Chris,” said McPeek.

Diva’s Diamond (Last 3 Beyers: 86-80-87)

◗ The winner of the $100,000 Iowa Distaff in June, she might be sitting on a peak race in what will be her third outing since Sept. 1.

◗ She missed by a neck in an allowance prep for the She’s All In.

◗ Colby Hernandez has the mount for Jerry Namy and trainer Karl Broberg.

Blue Violet (Last 3 Beyers: 76-81-87)

◗ She has won two of her last three starts, including the $75,000 Lady’s Secret at Monmouth Park on Sept. 1.

◗ Blue Violet will be making her second start since the Lady’s Secret.

◗ Kerwin Clark has the mount for owner Susan Knoll and trainer Larry Jones.

Trapeze (Race 10)

KEY CONTENDERS

Sweet Maria (Last 3 Beyers: 80-72-60)

◗ Jones trainee will make her two-turn debut in the Trapeze, a one-mile race for 2-year-old fillies.

◗ She has never been worse than second in three career starts, winning her debut at Delaware Park, then running second in a pair of first-level allowances at Keeneland and Fair Grounds.

◗ Clark has the mount for owner Brereton Jones.

Scadadle (Last 3 Beyers: 80-52-53)

◗ She broke through with a 6 1/2-length win in a maiden special weight sprint at Churchill Downs in her last start Nov. 16.

◗ Alex Birzer has the mount for owner Midwest Thoroughbreds and trainer Chris Richard.

Strawberry Baby (Last 3 Beyers: 56-78-71)

◗ She is returning to racing with fillies after finishing seventh against colts in the $100,000 Clever Trevor here in her most recent out Nov. 7.

◗ Strawberry Baby won the $75,000 Gold Lassie at Prairie Meadows in July.

◗ Dakota Wood has the mount for owners Brad and Judy Miller and trainer J.R. Caldwell.

Ibaka back with own kind

Ibaka, who won five races in a row earlier this year, gets back with his own age group in the $50,000 Jim Thorpe, a one-mile race restricted to 3-year-olds bred in Oklahoma.

Ibaka took on elders in the $155,000 Oklahoma Classics Cup at Remington and ran third to Imahit, who has since won an open-company allowance and was favored in another one to be run Saturday night at Remington.

Ibaka’s win streak started in a Delta Downs allowance in January and continued through a Remington allowance in August. In between those races, he won three stakes. Bret Calhoun trains Ibaka for owner and breeder Doug Wall.

◗ Lingering Smoke, an 11-length allowance winner in October, seeks to nail down her first stakes victory in the $50,000 Useeit, a one-mile race for 3-year-old fillies bred in Oklahoma. Floyd Wethey Jr. has the mount for trainer Roger Engel.
