Calicojack Hanover backed up his elimination race win by capturing Sunday night's C$247,500 Charles Juravinski Memorial Cup final for 4-year-old male pacers at Ontario's Flamboro Downs in 1:50 2/5.

Driven by Louis Roy for trainer Luc Blais, Calicojack Hanover left hard along with Lous World (Bob McClure) and Howlenthehills (Travis Cullen). Howlenthehills would press on to the front nearing 26 3/5 quarter, putting Calicojack Hanover in the pocket and Lous World in the three-hole. Storm Shadow (Tyler Borth) was then flushed first-over out of fourth on the second turn, giving cover to Captain Fear Not (Jody Jamieson), Chain Gang (Trevor Henry) and Captain Luke (Todd McCarthy).

Howlenthehills maintained the top spot to the half in 54 3/5 and as Storm Shadow began to stall, Jamieson tried a three-wide move with Captain Fear Not going to the 1:22 3/5 three-quarters. However, Captain Fear Not was unable to reach Howlenthehills and that also gave space for Roy to angle to the outside with Calicojack Hanover as they raced on the final bend.

In the stretch Howlenthehills was game, but Calicojack Hanover had a better kick on the outside, and he was able to get around Howlenthehills to prevail by a length. Lous World wound up third, followed by Captain Fear Not, Timeisonmyside (James MacDonald), Captain Luke, Storm Shadow, Chain Gang and Clever Cody (Doug McNair).

A son of Captaintreacherous, Calicojack Hanover is owned by Serge Godin's Determination stable. He has a summary of 7-3-1 from 24 outings, has pocketed C$334,931 and returned $4.40 to win as the favorite.

The companion C$50,000 Margaret Juravinski Memorial Invitational for 4-year-old pacing mares went to Roy as well, as he had Odds On Platinum on the engine through stations of 27 1/5, 56 1/5 and 1:25 1/5 on the way to a 1 1/4 length victory in 1:53 flat. Grit N Grace (Jamieson) turned a pocket trip into a second-place finish and One More Bet (J.R. Plante) came in third.

Dr. Ian Moore trains Odds On Platinum, a daughter of Bettor's Delight, for owners Let It Ride Stables Inc. and Odds On Racing. She has ten wins, ten seconds and six thirds from 33 starts, has banked C$1,159,916 and returned $2.60 to win as the favorite.
