SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Fitz Right extended her 2026 winning streak to three races with a perfect-trip victory in Friday’s Grade 2 Wonder Again Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on turf at Saratoga. Ridden by Flavien Prat for trainer Chad Brown, Fitz Right ($8.18) closed from third to win by a length over 13-10 favorite Lion Lake. “When I asked her, she was there,” said Prat. The $300,000 Wonder Again was the second of three stakes wins of the afternoon for Prat and Brown. They won the Grade 2 Bed o’ Roses Stakes earlier in the day with Ways and Means. Later on the program, they teamed to win the Grade 1 New York Stakes for fillies and mares on turf with Portfolio Duration. Fitz Right was the second choice in a field of seven in the Wonder Again, her graded stakes debut. Fitz Right broke well and was positioned in third for the first seven furlongs, racing behind pacesetter Coach Mazzula and Lion Lake, who was well-placed in second. :: DRF Belmont Stakes Packages: Save big on PPs, Clocker Reports, Betting Strategies, and more. “I wanted to be involved,” Prat said. “I wanted to be close to them. She jumped well and got me into the race.” Lion Lake caught 8-1 Coach Mazzula in early stretch and had a brief lead before she was caught by Fitz Right, who rallied three-wide on the turn and in early stretch. “I tipped out when I wanted,” Prat said. Fitz Right led by a head with a furlong remaining, completing the 1 1/16 miles on turf in 1:40.39. Lion Lake, trained by Brendan Walsh, held second. Jockey John Velazquez, who rode Lion Lake, dropped his whip in the final furlong. “He’s mad, too,” Walsh said of Velazquez. Lion Lake was favored on the strength of two third-place finishes by a neck in Grade 2 stakes in Kentucky earlier this spring – the Appalachian Stakes at a mile at Keeneland on April 4 and the Grade 2 Edgewood Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on turf at Churchill Downs on May 1. “It was a good effort again,” Walsh said. “I think she got outrun by a better filly. John said he got a good trip and got her to relax. I thought when we got in front, we were there. She might be a tad better at a mile.” Time to Dream (3-1) finished third, followed by Coach Mazzula, Quiet Street, Call On Me, and Tax Holiday. Coach Mazzula set an early pace of 24.42 seconds for the opening quarter-mile and 48.48 for a half-mile. Fitz Right, by Charlatan, has won 4 of 6 starts and earned $301,950 for the partnership of Michael Dubb, William Lawrence, the Elkstone Group, and Michael Kisber. Brown said in the winner’s circle that Fitz Right will be considered for the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks at 1 1/8 miles on turf at Saratoga on July 4. :: Bet the Belmont Stakes with confidence!
