Fireball Baby takes second consecutive Lady Fog Horn

Fireball Baby won the $150,000 Lady Fog Horn at Indiana Grand for the second year in a row Saturday, when she slipped through on the rail into the stretch and went on to a four-length victory over Diamond Solitaire.
It was another 1 3/4 lengths back in third to Expect Indy.
The Lady Fog Horn, a 1 1/16-mile race for Indiana-bred or Indiana-sired fillies and mares, was one of the highlights of Indiana Champions Day. The program featured four restricted stakes for Thoroughbreds and five for Quarter Horses.
Fireball Baby ($5.40) came into the Lady Fog Horn off a runner-up finish to Piedi Bianchi, the New York-based runner who ranks as one of the richest Indiana-breds of all-time with a current bankroll of $823,497. The pair met at Indiana Grand in the $150,000 Cardinal.
It was run in the slop, and Fireball Baby caught the same conditions Saturday. She settled in fourth behind Expect Indy, who took the field through fractions of 23.73 seconds for the opening quarter, 48.40 for the half-mile and 1:14.28 for six furlongs. Fireball Baby advanced on the final turn, got through on the rail heading into the stretch, and powered home while covering the distance in 1:47.69.

The race was for 2-year-old fillies at six furlongs. Unbridled Victory covered the distance over a sloppy, sealed track in 1:12.80.
