Fipke, Da Silva among Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame inductees

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Owner-breeder Charles Fipke and jockey Eurico Da Silva are among the 2022 inductees to the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame.
A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Fipke is a successful Canadian geologist and prospector who was involved in the discovery of the Ekati Diamond Mine in the Northwest Territories. He entered the Canadian Thoroughbred industry in 1981, and over the past 45 years, bred and owned numerous stakes winners.
Fipke has raced Sovereign Award winners Not Bourbon, Impossible Time, Perfect Soul, and Lady Speightspeare. He also campaigned 2011 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf winner Perfect Shirl and Grade 1 winner Forever Unbridled, the 2017 Eclipse Award-winning champion older female.
Da Silva, a native of São Paulo, Brazil, recorded back-to-back Queen’s Plate scores with Eye of the Leopard in 2009 and Big Red Mike in 2010. Da Silva won multiple Grade 1s, including the Woodbine Mile on El Tormenta and the Canadian International aboard Bullard’s Alley. He also captured the 2017 World All-Star Jockeys’ Championship in Japan.
The regular rider of five-time Canadian champion sprinter Pink Lloyd, Da Silva won 2,286 races in North America, where his mounts earned over $102 million.

Court Vision and Alydeed are the two Thoroughbred equine inductees.
Court Vision annexed the 2010 Woodbine Mile and the 2011 Breeders’ Cup Mile. He began his stallion career in Ontario and was Canada’s leading freshman sire in 2015. He sired 2019 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile victor and Eclipse Award winner Storm the Court, and Canadian champion Mr. Havercamp.
After finishing second in the 1992 Preakness, the Roger Attfield-trained Alydeed romped in the Queen’s Plate before a shocking loss to Benburb in the Prince of Wales Stakes in the mud at Fort Erie. He evolved into a top-notch sprinter at 4, when he won the Grade 1 Carter and the Grade 3 Commonwealth Breeders’ Cup. He went on to have a decent career at stud and was Canada’s leading sire in 2001.
The 2022 inductees on the Standardbred side are communicator Frank Salive, trainer Jack Darling, veteran Gilles Gendron, and male horse Shadow Play.
